Words of Global Alliance for Ukraine President Roman Chukhvitsky after World Economic Forum 2026.
Just returned from the 56th WEF in Davos, which by-the-way was co-founded by Ukrainian economist Bohdan Havrylyshyn and gathered nearly 3,000 world leaders.
This year’s key discussions centered on navigating a contested world, the impact of AI, responsible innovation, and sustainable growth. But above all — it was about people. Leaders who showed up to meet, challenge each other, and shape tomorrow, and then go back home and implement what was discussed.
Of course, NATO, Greenland, and Europe’s security were front and center — with major addresses from U.S. President Donald Trump and Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney, which pushed Ukraine into a more secondary place in some conversations. Still, Ukraine’s responsible leadership and determination were impossible to ignore — especially the strong kickoff and clear message from Kyrylo Budanov on the main stage, bringing the discussion to a new level in the diplomatic and defense realm.
I walked my 15 thousands steps every day in between invitations-only, private events and open meetings at Ukraine House, America House, Swiss-American ChamberCocktail Party, the Swedish Luncheon at Schatzalp, Leaders Forum, Africa Night, a Swiss private dinner, the Digital Lounge, and EBA / GA4UA Key Takeaways discussion at Google’s office.
And in reality, it’s all about people.
Being in people’s business for 20 years, it’s always about people, even now, when technology and AI is developing so fast.
Right people. Right place. Right time. That’s what moves the needle in business, society, and geopolitics. Right people make good decisions. Wrong people make bad decisions. And our responsibility as leaders is to be the right people — making the right decisions for our families, communities, cities, regions, and countries; choosing the right people for our organizations — those who think outside the box, get the job done, and do what’s right even when it’s unpopular.
It was a real joy to reconnect with old friends — who are like a good wine, they only get better with time. And Davos is also about making new friends — relationships that mature into trusted partnerships and bear real fruit: new businesses, ventures, collaboration, and practical help to those in need.
Special gratitude to those who love Ukraine and do everything to help Ukraine to be free, peaceful and prosper again. Dora Chomiak , Mikola (Nick) Bilogorskiy , Artem Shevalev, Yasmin Urbani and many more.
